Proposal for Controversial Plastic Plant Withdrawn
Clean Air Action’s Legislative Director, Sean Hoffmann, was quoted in a recent article on Alterra Energy’s recent decision to withdraw its proposal to build what’s called a “chemical recycling” facility in Sugarloaf, Pennsylvania that planned to burn plastic to create a chemically-concentrated crude oil.
“Pyrolysis [a plastic burning method] is bad for our health and perpetuates the plastics crisis by creating more demand for harmful plastics when we should be doing the opposite,” Hoffmann said.
“We all want good jobs and economic growth in our communities, but that shouldn’t come at the cost of our health and our land.”
