Tell Your State Rep To Support a Push for More Clean Energy in Pennsylvania
With electric bills increasing across the state and with no end in sight, Pennsylvania needs an expeditious solution. Encouraging more clean energy projects to connect to our electric grid is one common-sense remedy.
Governor Shapiro and the Pennsylvania legislature are moving a long-awaited bill to increase Pennsylvania's clean, renewable energy called the Pennsylvania Reliable Energy Sustainability Standard (PRESS). PRESS passed out of Committee earlier this month and now awaits a full vote from the House. If passed into law, PRESS will increase the percentage of electricity that comes from clean energy in Pennsylvania’s energy mix. This is an overdue step toward improving energy reliability, reducing air pollution, and decreasing electric bills in the Commonwealth.
PRESS would require clean energy to make up 35% of Pennsylvania’s energy by 2035, a significant increase from the current 3.6% used in the state. Pennsylvania is ranked 48th in the country for development of clean energy sources like wind, solar, and geothermal. If Pennsylvania wants to continue to be a national energy leader, we should pass PRESS. This will ensure we have a diverse energy mix of the future that will protect our health, stabilize our electric grid reliability and drive economic growth.
We have a small legislative window this year to get PRESS across the finish line, so I urge you to please join us in taking action and tell your State Rep. to support PRESS and help lower your rising electric bill today.
Thank you for all that you do.
